The 1,799 seat Genesee, designed by Chicago architect Charles Steinberg, opened on Christmas day, 1927. A Plitt cinema in its final years, it closed in 1989. A renovation project began in 2001, and the Genesee reopened as a 2,416-seat world-class concert and performance venue on December 3, 2004.
