Inside the Orion hybrids on the NYCTA, behind the driver and above the left front wheel there is a big tall cabinet. What is in it? Thanks. |

If I recall correctly, BK (founder/webmaster/moderator of the old Bus Talk.Net) had posted on the old BTN that this was a storage cabinet. He had posted photos of the interior of this cabinet, and it did look like a small closet. I have seen some New Flyer transit bus operator's manuals that show a smaller boxy cabinet (half-height only, not floor-to-ceiling as on the Orion VII HEV's)located directly behind the B/O's seat; this box was labeled as a wheelchair securement belt storage box. |

The doors on the aisle is storage for the driver. The big door at the back by the front wheel well is an electrical compartment. This door is locked differently so the driver can not open it. Mechanics are the only employees who need to open this door. |

Don't quote me on this but on the NABI 60 BRT's I believe there is a fire extinguisher available from the compartment behind the driver.
I had a quick glimpse of an interior a couple of months ago and I seem to remember a decal on the door with the image of an extinguisher in red.
On the 'Old Looks' we had a brass chemical extinguisher built into the dashboard with a glass front and the legend 'USE HAMMER TO BREAK GLASS' etched on the surface.
It was pretty standard on all GM's and the picture below would show it if it wasn't covered by the newspapers!
