The mystery of Surface # 601 has been solved, and was unfortunately due to an error on the part of this historian!

I misconstrued serial numbers for fleet numbers in my complete prewar Mack production list for the CM Models of Surface Transportation.

Of course, I must share the blame with Mack because of their unauthodox method of transcribing the information.

The discovery was made looking at the 25 bus order for Green Line on the same CM list and knowing that they were numbered 801 to 825.

I will edit my original "Surface # 601 Mystery" to include the correction so that the record will be accurate.

Sorry for the confusion, but these things happen to the best of us!

It was a good mystery, nevertheless, Mr. Linsky!

Dave,

I pride myself (as a would be historian) on reporting the facts for the record as accuratley as possible.

If I find inaccuracies after the fact I am compelled to correct the record as quickly as I can.

It isn't easy admitting to an error but none of us are perfect! (and I can sleep better!).

Thanks.
