Nice shot. Basically, the prototype of all modern transit bus design since that time.... Cool

This type was, indeed, quite modern for its day, being a rear-engine bus.

When the first "Old Looks" appeared in 1940, we indeed truly had the first "modern" transit bus, which, once updated with inward-slanting windshields, looked ever more streamlined and up-to-date, than it had originally.

And as NYCO was an "affiliate" of FACCo, it figured both entities would use the same type of numeral style for displaying the bus numbers (in this case, 270).
