Now the font on that old streetcar could definitely qualify as a "lost" one. I don't think I saw it on any Surface buses. |

I beg to differ. The bus is signed 52-Gates Avenue, not 32.

A Brooklynite should be able to identify the location because of one or two of the buildings in the background. For starters, I might guess Flatbush Avenue and Livingston Street. |

That was a typo on my part.......oops!
I like old photos to be captioned in such a manner that a location i given; not being from Brooklyn, I can only identify locations that I am familiar with from seeing photos taken at a certain location, where the location is given.
Though I can easily identify photos taken at the Sands St elevated/streetcar complex, Stillwell Avenue, Grand Army Plaza, etc., there are many photos that have no location given that I cannot even guess at........

Over a century ago, early articulated streetcars, known as "two-rooms-and-a-bath" cars (a home-built Boston design) were commonplace in that city (later models utilized two double-truck cars)
One such car once operated in Brooklyn; this was car #4900.
Unlike Boston, this concept was not popular, and no further units of this type were built for Brooklyn.
Photos of this car are almost never seen......

No date given here, but we see a couple of retired B&QT convertibles at the Coney Island yards, sadly awaiting scrapping.
Note the old bus, also awaiting scrapping, on the right......

At Grand Army Plaza (at Vanderbilt Avenue) we see PCC #1061 "meeting" with single-ended Peter Witt #6112, post-WW2.
Note, also, the two-light traffic signal, and the hulking Buick in the background........

At the busy Williamsburgh Bridge Plaza station, we see double-ended Peter Witt #8402, with a new MACK in the background.
Off to the left, we can see the angular lines of a departing 6000 series single-ended Peter Witt.......

East New York, circa-1940.
This elderly B&QT deck-roof car (#2510) makes for an interesting contrast to the assortment of prewar buses (TWIN COACH and MACK) on the left.
In the left background, you can also spot a train of BMT Standards up on the elevated structure.....

The '5' on #2510 was a bit too ornate for the numbers used on many a 'Tee-Yay' or MaBSTOA Fishbowl, but the rest of the numerals were close. |

That style of "5" (or pretty close to it) was also displayed on a white placard, and clipped into a holder in the right-hand windshields (and rear windows) on the NHBL buses assigned to the "5", which ran from JSQ, past our Union City apartment building, and then on to the "Port-of-Authority".
Via this line, we were only 15 minutes away from Manhattan; Mom and I used it often, way back in the day..........

Just to briefly get off-topic here:
In this 1972 photo, taken just above the then still-bustling Journal Square (Jersey City), we see a NHBL Fishbow (B-114)l*, already signed for the return trip into New York.
Note the "5" placard, the same used on the older buses, when they were still in service, and used on this line......

*This bus was one of the very few a/c-equipped buses in the NHBL fleet; though, of course, I have always loved the Fishbowls, I didn't like it that, as they increased in numbers, the oldest buses I had grown up were seen less and less, and then disappeared altogether.
Today, in 2021, it is now at least 24 years since the last Fishbowl operated on a "Boulevard" route....I still miss them today; I rode them too many times to count, over the years.....
