Earlier, I'd mentioned that the now-classic 4106 (like the earlier 4104) was one of the most versatile buses built by GM (or any other builder, for that matter.

The 4106 was as home in commuter and charter services as it was in long-haul operations.

In this classic 1960s scene, we have a handsome SUBURBAN TRANSIT 4106, with an "EAGLE" just glimpsed in the background, and the rear of an Old Look just ahead of the 4106 (obviously, these buses were all on charters)

Ahhh, those indeed were the days! Wink

This ancient, time-worn relic recalls those halcyon, long-ago days when all a traveler needed to find was a large sign sporting the single word "BUS", along with that ever-iconic "running dog"............ Very Happy

Agreed! I sort of thought it maybe a bit arrogant of Greyhound to erect such a simple sign, implying that if it wasn't Greyhound, it wasn't an intercity bus, but they were more correct than not in that regard, at least in most of North America. But Trailways, always trying to "work harder" to keep up with the leader also emulated that practice in locations that they dominated...

Here's a particularly handsome ad for "SANTA FE TRAILWAYS".

As is obvious, this ad does not date to the 1950s, as stated here (note the prewar ACF depicted).......................

Here's a beautifully restored depot sign for "LAKES-TO-SEA STAGES", circa-late 1930s (note that handsome YELLOW, then among the most modern on the road!) Wink
