|
|
The other day, a friend left Great Neck on a one-day charter trip to Atlantic City. The driver used I-495 west to the Grand Central Parkway, past LaGuardia Airport, over the "RFK" Triborough Bridge, Harlem River Drive, George Washington Bridge, NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. The down trip was slower, but the return on the same route was 2 hours 40 minutes (about 145 miles).
---
I did not know that large charter buses were allowed on the Grand Central Parkway or the Harlem River Drive. Has the rule been eased?
Thanks. |

Joe:
See:
https://www1.nyc.gov/nycbusiness/description/commercial-vehicle-restrictions
According to this page, ALL commercial vehicles (including buses) are not allowed to use the GCP.
There are also youtube clips of a charter bus encountering a low bridge on the Parkway; the bus, of course, was not supposed to be there.
Hope this info helps.....

If you read the restriction’s, you’ll notice that for the Grand Central Parkway, it states that buses may not use it without consent.
The NYC DOT does issue special permits for some buses to use it. |
