Now THAT, my friend, IS rare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

MARMON, of course, manufactured a large number of trolley buses, that once ran in a number of cities, many years back.

The front end reminds me a bit of a postwar MACK........

GREAT photo!! Wink

Marmon also had the contract to rebuild most of the Greyhound Scenicruiser's in "Super Scenicruiser's" in 1961...

traildriver:

According to "GREYHOUND SCENICRUISER" (McNALLY/RAYMAN) , it was a $10-million dollar contract awarded to MARMON, quite a sum, back in those days!

Structural issues were also corrected by MARMON; some of the buses had stress cracks along the sides, and these were corrected by installing riveted steel gussets in several varying locations, between the upper-deck side windows, above the baggage bins, and above the tandem axles........

*In my collection, I have an "PD 4501R OPERATING MANUAL" (53 pages)

To say this manual is most interesting is indeed an understatement; especially interesting is the use of "capsules" for cold weather starting......

When did the Department of Hospitals morph into the Health and Hospitals Corporation, exactly?

What would be even more interesting is the original Scenicruiser operator's manual, with the dual engines...

IIRC It was sometime during the Lindsay years, when City Hall came up with with the idea of consolidating many of the agencies under several "consolidating" super agencies. I worked in 1971 for the Health Dept. which fell under the Health Services Agency umbrella along with the Medical Examiner's 0ffice and the office of Mental Health & Mental Hygene dept. Can't recall where the Hospital ended up.

To me, it was another sham so Lindsay's operatives could have jobs

IIRC, the City ambulances (anyone remember those Metro stepvans?), were under the authority of the Hospitals originally...now they are under the authority of the NY Fire Department. I think that the paramedics are much happier with their current status.... Wink
