This morning, on a Sunday-morning news discussion show I always watch, there were glimpses of buses unloading migrants in New York.

One bus shown was operated by STOUT'S, and was a late-model VAN HOOL.

The other clip showed another late-model coach (which I could not identify) with "NOTERO EXPRESS" on the dash............

.....also curious just what State agencies charters these buses, and how the companies are chosen in this instance.....

Given the highly unstable (and often insane) state of political affairs nowadays, you just might be on the right track, here......... Rolling Eyes

Quick question:

Does NJT operate any of the former "LINCOLN" lines?

From my 1964 tt (issued 59 years ago!) it's obvious that the company offered a great deal of extensive services, and served many communities within the State, calling at service stations, groceries, ice-cream parlors, diners, and other local establishments.

Indeed, this well-worn old tt gives a glimpse into a world long since vanished down the highway of time.....

.....a few days ago, I caught a quick glimpse on the news of a coach for "CharterUP"(I had never heard of this company before) carrying a load of migrants.

I think the bus was a later-model VAN HOOL, but was not sure......

I never heard of them, either, but according to this article:

https://www.statesman.com/story/business/2023/05/02/charterup-moving-headquarters-atlanta-to-austin-with-job-openings/70168402007/

they appear to be just another one of those many online booking sites.
The bus you saw in the video, was probably some charter company that used their services, and agreed to have a “wrap job” promoting them. If you would have a view of the “legals” then you would know the true owner-operators…

During the news reports (regarding the ongoing migrant crises) the past several days, I have noticed that most (if not all) of the buses seen are either VAN HOOL or PREVOST models..........

...........once again, watching the news coverage on the migrant crises in New York City, virtually all the buses seen arriving are VAN HOOLS.

If my memory serves me correctly, I have not, to date, seen any MCI's whatsoever; I might have seen a PREVOST ot two awhile back, but am not sure.

The VAN HOOLS have more than dominated.........

Two companies (both of which I am totally unfamiliar with) whose buses I've seen on the news bringing into New York migrants are

"LILY'S"

"UP CHARTER" (or "CHARTER UP")........

Van Hool's popularity of late stems from the fact that you can buy 5 of them for roughly the price of four comparable Prevosts or MCIs

My company, Academy has been buying mostly from them in the recent past, along with a smattering of TEMSA's. The latest purchases have been new Mercedes Benz Tourriders.

Ahhhh, so this just might very well explain why I've been seeing so many VAN HOOLS on the news, as of late (the PRICE is indeed RIGHT, here, FIVE coaches for the price of one!) Wink

The MERCEDES coaches (at least IMHO) remind me of a VAN HOOL (thanks for the link!) Very Happy

My mistake! (I just ain't good with numbers!) Shocked Rolling Eyes

For obvious reasons, I could easily see you purchasing a wayward "SCENICRUISER", and restoring it to is former glory (guess you gotta hit the numbers BIG to do this!) Wink

Breaking news:

"Roadrunner Charters" (Texas) one of 17 bus companies transporting migrants to New York has suspended operations (transporting migrants to New York), due to a pending lawsuit,

The company is now being sued......
