GREAT info; man, if I only had your memories!
You mentioned GREYHOUND's Marin commuter routes; when the NWP abandoned electric commuter train/ferryboat service to San Francisco in 1941, new GREYHOUND Yellows began operating in place of the trains and the boats (only problem was, the buses could not cope with the huge crowds carried by a train of several MU cars, or a ferryboat, which carried close to 2,000 passengers per trip)
In fact, some of the earliest YELLOW Old looks were operated by GREYHOUND in commuter service.
In 1940, just one year prior to the long-expected abandonment of the NWP's electric train/ferry services, GREYHOUND took delivery of 84 TD-4502's.
GREYHOUND also later took delivery of 33 GM TD-3607's for commuter runs.......

Now, here's a truly CLASSIC and TIMELESS gathering of California "Hounds", on a long-ago day; note the Old Look on the extreme left, alongside the "Bison"......

Parked in front of Adirondack's old garage on 37th Street...now used by Verizon Communications...
BTW, if you click on that little circle in the image, it opens up a page containing this "sectioned" PD-4106.
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/40/05/e5/4005e5c891f7b5656bbc31d826b3a866.jpg
Gray Line Tours of Colorado Springs modified some 4106's like this (cut in half and 5 feet of length removed). They called the result, "The Shrink".
They were used on the tours to the top of Pikes Peak. A standard 4106 could not negotiate the hairpin turns of the Pikes Peak Auto Road.
Previous to these, they used Crown Coach buses with ten speed Roadranger tranny's. |

As always, I greatly appreciate your always fascinating historical trivia!
Speaking of "cut down" buses, I recall MUNI doing exactly that with several old MACKS; the buses were "transformed" into "Baby Macks", for a route (I think it served Coit Tower) where it was very difficult for standard-length buses to turn.
Speaking of "small" buses, in 1954, two small (18 passenger) Flxible "AIRPORTER" coaches were delivered to the DIXIE TRACTION COMPANY of Covington, Kentucky.
These small buses were used in airport transport service between the Cincinatti/Northern Kentucky Airport and Cincinnati, just across the Ohio River.

I see that passenger vans are now used; I see FAR TOO MANY of these in my area as "dollar vans", far outnumbering NJT buses.
FLXIBLE, many years ago, built a number of 25- and 33-passenger sightseeing coaches ('Lil' Flexies") for sightseeing services; GRAY LINE of Montreal operated 25-passenger models.
In Salt Lake City, SALT LAKE TRANSPORTATION CO. rostered 33 passenger models; back in those days, this company was also a member of the GRAY LINE SIGHT-SEEING ASSOCIATION.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN TOURS, LTD, once operated two VISICOACHES with glass sightseeing roofs; these buses went into service in 1951.
This company was sold to BREWSTER TRANSPORT in 1957, and renamed BREWSTER-ROCKY MOUNTAIN GRAY LINE..........

A few quick questions for the "man in the know":
1:
Earlier, I'd posted a link to a picture of a 4104 for "MERZ WHITE WAY TOURS".
I had never heard of this company; do you have any information?
2:
In past weeks, the transport of migrants coming into New York via buses from Florida and Texas have been important topics on the news.
Though I had seen some quick footage on the news in past weeks, I was not able to decipher what companies supplied these buses.
Any info?
As always, greatly appreciate your input......
