Thinking about "electric" articulateds, one has to also remember how long ago such vehicles were in Europe, in the form of trolley buses.
Moscow, back in 1959, took delivery of some VERY handsome articulated trolley buses in 1959; too, it's important to remember that articulated MOTOR buses have been commonplace in many European cities since at least the 1950's (narrow, medieval streets are certainly more easily navigated by an articulated unit than a "conventional" model.......

There was, however, a silent film actress named Marie Prevost. Nick Lowe, who had written a song about her, must've been familiar with the Lassie series, cause he got her surname misspelt the same way. But I think of that bus company nomenclature more by the silent movie star's name, though . . . |

W.B.:
Though a bit off-topic, being a lifelong "Joisey Boy", I always took pride that a (now-defunct) bus company from the Garden State ("SOMERSET" aka the "BLUE STAR ROUTE") had the distinction of being the FIRST company here in the States to take delivery of the new PREVOST "Champion".
Bus #9111, signed for the "#141 MOUNTAINSIDE", was the first of four CHAMPIONS for SOMERSET to "cross the border" in the Spring of 1968........

* looking through (first generation) New Look #9887's windshields, you can clearly see the time-honored "crowd gate", once a given on NJ buses for decades.......indeed, I remember them well! |
