(SEE EARLIER POSTS)---------It was interesting that-while the slips of the 39th Street Ferry in Brooklyn was equipped for upper deck loading----the 39th Street at St George slips were not; when the new slips were built for the 69th Street Ferry-prior to 1951-none of the slips at St George or Brooklyn featured upper deck loading (the "ELECTRIC FERRY"-type boats-of-course-were not designed for upper deck passenger loading)---------"NYO"

---------I know that an "R" route (Staten Island) bus connected with (until circa-1962) the open-deck ferries operated by "SUNRISE FERRIES" that went to Bayonne (Bergen Point)----"NYO"

It would be interesting to learn of the total # of bus routes that began/ended their runs at St George (when the new facility opened in 1951)-and what are the # of bus routes using the facility today)-------------"NYO"

Any info on what bus routes began running to South Ferry after NY Railways streetcar operations ended and bus operations began? Appreciate any info------"NYO"

WB: Thanks for this info----this is exactly what I needed to know; interesting to recall that the only subway station to connect directly to the Whitehall Street ferry was the "Eye-Are-Tee's" (now OOS) South Ferry Loop (recall also that the rebuilt facility [1956] offered enclosed connections to the subway)----when the El lines were still in operation-passengers could enter the upper ferry concourse to board the boats-without the need of stairways (recall-also-the old Bowling Green shuttle-which ran until 1977)----the "Eye-Are-Tee" had the distinction of being the only subway to directly connect to the Staten Island boats (I still recall-long long ago-----when the Lex trains also ran to South Ferry)----------"NYO"

The Whitehall Street subway station-of course (unlike the "Eye-Are-Tee") did not offer a direct connection to the ferry itself; and the nearest "Eye-End-Dee" station was where you now board the "E" at the WTC----------"NYO"

WB: Agreed-the humble "Dangerfield" was indeed more of a "blue collar worker" than a "tony" Fishbowl; as I've said the past-the "Dangerfield" indeed had a tougher-more "no nonsense" look to them-compared to the sleeker Fishbowls.....IMHO-the "Dangerfields" were indeed the "Pattons" of their era----these hard-working buses indeed had a more "blue collar" look to them than did the Fishbowls (perhaps because there were so many Fishbowl suburbans-carrying well-dressed suburbanites out to the "posh" suburbs)........"NYO"
