My favorite movie bus scene is near the end of "Hud" when Brandon deWilde drops Patricia Neal off at the Continental Trailways depot in their tiny Texas town. The scene occurs on a bench outside against a backdrop of Trailways signs and posters, and when Neal climbs aboard the bus, we have an interior view as the bus pulls away, carries her off into the night -- and leaves a stunned Paul Newman at the curb. |

lthanlon,
I know what you're talking about and it was a very memorable scene but first let me welcome you to BusTalk - glad to have you aboard.
The photo that I've attached below is a still shot from that sequence with a very pretty Ms. Neal as the focus with the Trailways ACF signed for Dallas in the background.
My favorite Neal picture was the 1951 release of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'.

What a beautiful photo! Oddly enough, in the movie we don't actually see the Trailways bus from the outside. I wonder whether this was strictly a publicity photo or whether there's an exterior shot of Neal climbing aboard that didn't make the final cut.
Agreed re "The Day the Earth Stood Still." |
