The movie audience this afternoon clearly enjoyed Woody Allen's newest (2011), "Midnight in Paris." Not at all tedious. Good jokes built on a plot somewhat similar to "Purple Rose of Cairo." Read reviews before viewing.

I kept a pen and pad handy to record bus numbers, but the equipment was fleeting: a fair number of over-the-road modern coaches. However, the single choice of the front of an RATP bus may have been an Allen joke: a clear shot of route and destination: 69 Gambetta. That runs across Paris from the Champ de Mars to Place Gambetta.

The flash-back 1920's scenes had some old oil-burning automobiles, no buses. Then there was a surprise flash-back to the 1890's, with horse-drawn carriages. |
