MCI will build up to 142 diesel electric hybrid D4500 commuter coaches for Houston METRO.
Question: Do you think NYCT or MTAB ever would do likewise?

I think its a possibility, they got Orion VII HEVs, why not?

I'm guessing the MTA will wait a couple of years to see what NJ Transit's experience is with hybrid MCIs.

However, NJ Transit's hybrid MCIs are from 2002.

At this point, it's highly unlikely, consider the MTA is getting new X3-45 OTR buses in the near future (which will be clean diesels).
