Meanwhile, this'll be the last season for Howie Rose on Mets' radio. I can see why he'd do this: He doesn't want to lumber around the way John Sterling had in his last years as Yankees' announcer.

W.B.:

I "hoid" this on 1010 WINS earlier, but had forgotten to post a "blurb" here.

Of course, EVERYONE has to retire at some point, but, on the flip side, Mr. Rose's retirement closes another colorful chapter in Mets history....let's hope Mr. Rose enjoys a long and happy retirement......... Wink

BTW:

Mets home opener on the 26th, next Thursday (let's hope, after the game, the "7" trains* are jammed with happy Mets fans)..... Wink

*(The NYCTM will be running a "Redboid" special to the Mets home opener next Thursday; the special will make all local stops to QP, and then run express to Willets Point)

I agree . . . and I also note that over the last few years, Mr. Rose has had some health issues which kept him away from the booth. I'm sure he had all that in mind when he made his announcement.

W.B.:

When health issues are involved (and you are getting up in years) that indeed plays a HUGE factor in making the decision to retire.

Sadly, so many connected with Mets history are no longer with us. Sad

At least, some WF "Bluenoids" and "Redboids" are still alive and kicking! Wink

Being older "museum" cars (non-NTT), I wonder how they operate on the #7, as it is all CNTC these days..........

Mets opening day (today)...........

As "Doze Arrogant Squeakers From Da Bronx" won out in "El-Ay" last night, keep your collective fingers crossed (and say a prater or two) that "The amazins' WIN today.

If they don't, rest assured the "AYF" continent will waste no time in going right for the jugular, as to be expected.......... Sad

"Noo Yawk" baseball "nooze" for "Thoisday"..........

Well, all I'm going to say is, that, the homebound #7 trains are jammed with VERY HAPPY Mets fans, this balmy March afternoon!!!! Very Happy

(however, I don't think the "AYF" contingent are too happy though!) Wink Razz

"Doze arrogant squeakers" didn't have a game today (they actually won in "Ess-Eff" yesterday, not "El-Lay"), and they have two more games against "da Giants" during the weekend. But yeah, with the olden cars taking fans to Citi Field, must've been good vibes - and a good omen - for the 'Amazin's' today.

W.B.:

I had forgotten that "Doze Squeakers"played in "MUNI" territory, and NOT "El Ay"! Shocked

Agreed; I think that doze old, ever-faithful tried-and-true "Redboids" taking the faithful out to Citi Field (am now recalling the hallowed "Shea" of years past) earlier indeed might just have been a "good luck charm", of sorts, for the Amazins' (still curious as to how museun cars can operate over lines like the #7, which is now all CBTC.......

And today, "doze arrogant squeakers" won yet again; the Giants weren't even on the scoreboard! Cross your fingers for the Mets tomorrow, that's all I'll say, as no doubt today's win will make "AYF's" even more insufferable than they already are.

W.B.:

"Hoid" about this earlier on 1010 WINS.

Indeed, MORE than a few of the Mets faithful are keeping their fingers crossed, that the Mets win again tomorrow, to ward off a full-frontal, toxic attack by the ever-rabid "AYF" brigade......let's hope that a win will be in the Amazins' future Saturday.........

..........................it is pretty obvious that, with each game won, that "doze squeakers" grow even more arrogant, blustering, and cocksure, while the "AFY" brigade grow even more vicious and vengeful.......... Razz

The "Miracle Mets" in "miracle mode"! (Saturday)......... Very Happy

In a real "come from behind" victory, the Mets, who had been traling the Pirates 2-1 earlier, pulled off a last-minute "miracle" and beat the Pirates, TWO GAMES IN A ROW!! Shocked

The "AFY" brigade sure ain't enjoying this! Razz

Once again, the homebound #7 trains are jammed full of jovial Mets fans (and cold mugs clinking together in toasts at pubs and bars in throughout Queens........(!!) Very Happy

Late baseball "nooze" for Saturday......

Yup, "doze arrogant squeakers from da Bronx" just won their third straight game out on "da coast".......it seems that, with every game one, the seething arrogance level of the "AYF" brigade increases a hundredfold (like that's really news to Mets fans)...... Razz
