Also on this day..............

The last recorded run of the legendary "R-10s" ("Thunderoids') iin revenue service took place.

These were the last cars in service where the conductor "slapped the caps" between cars, and the last with monitor roofs.

I still miss these iconic (noisy!) cars today.....

Earlier today, AMTRAK and Metro-North's New Haven lines were suspended between Stamford and Norwalk, due to flooding.............

NJT/AMTRAK riders will be facing FIVE WEEKS of delays, disruptions, etc, due to the final work on the new connections to the new Portal Bridge.

Ahhh, but the mood among the riders will be QUITE interesting...... Rolling Eyes

.....let's see how many setbaxks swill rear their ugly heads, during the next five weeks.......will "En-Jay-Tee" and AMTRAK, once again, be playing the "blame game", when there's a snafu?

Potetial transit trouble spots during the approaching nor'easter............

SIRT (especially St. George and Tottenille)

SI Ferry

NJT's North Jersey Coast Line

LIRR

BMT subway lines in open cuts (Sea Beach, West End, etc)

And, of course, multiple subway stations being transformed into water parks......

According to "Mr. JAN-oh!"..............

Buses are standing by to fill in for Metro-North trains in case rail service is knocked out.

Extra precautions are now being taken at CIY and at Howard Beach, to at least stem some possible flooding.

The Great Kills area is also "under the gun", which would, of course, affect SIRT service........
