Just thought of this...........

in 1953's "ABBOT & COSTELLO GO TO MARS", the boy's rocket ship, back kon Earth, ends up zipping through the Lincoln Tunnel (then only two tubes)

We see the helix and toll plaza, and assorted vehicles.

Exiting on the Manhattan side, we see traffic entering the Jerseu bound- portal, which affords us a quick glimpse of a "suboiban" Old Look, emitting a puff of exhist! (could not tell what company it was rostered by)

Had to mention this....... Wink

That reminds me. From c.1973 to the late 1980's, most of A&C's films were late Sunday morning staples on WPIX (Channel 11). As well as their 1952-54 TV show. A&C Go To Mars was among the many they showed in rotation for that time period. Talk about something that was once a given, but has gone the way of those Old Looks (and New Looks), RTS's, etc.

W.B;

As my older brothers (then nlong since married) and I watched the old "A&C films every Sunday morning, from 11:30 to 1PM (Old Looks GALORE in 1942's "PARDON MY SARONG"!) Very Happy

We also watched on WNEW 5 the "Bowery Boys"series (sometimes dubbed "East Side Comedy") Wink

While the show was still being aired, NEVER missed the "ABBOTT & COSTELLO" sh ow (recall the ever-harried Mr. Fields, and the lovely Hillary Brooke, not tomention Joe Besser's "Stinky", and "beat cop"Mike?) Wink

And BOTH of the "boyz" were "JOISEY" boys!!! (Paterson and Asbury Park!) Very Happy

"NYO"

(recall, also, the animated felines "Babbitt & Catsello", who appeared in severa; 1940s "Tweety" cartoons?) Wink

["WPIX 11"]
