Further:
In one of two softcover books I have, which carries multiple issues of the "READING-JERSEY CENTRAL MAGAZINE" from 1936 through 1937, there isa photo of a 1931-vintage, front-engined bus, operated by the READING.
According to the photo caption, ".......this bus makes several round trips daily between Philadelphia and New York....."

READING buses......
The following is from an old book I have on the history of the PRSL:
"......by the 1920s, the Reading was already active in the use of buses to supplement train service, and a subsidiary, the 'READING TRANSPORTATION COMPANY' was formed........"
".......the Reading began hourly bus service to Atlantic City, Ocean City, and New York, from Philadelphia........."
".....the PRR entered the scene, by buying out the 'PEOPLE'S RAPID TRANSIT' in 1929........"
".......both railroad-operated bus lines operated on the White Horse Pike, leaving development of the Black Horse Pike to Public Service......"
