Were/are you familiar with "MAINELINE"?

I recall seeing coaches years ago, that had "The Maine Line" slogan painted on the side, but not sure if that was their actual name or something else. I believe they had a small line run, but did a lot of charter work, with their buses appearing all over the Northeast. It could have been the Blue Line possibly...not sure...

Thanks, as always, for the info.

As I had said earlier, I had no idea that this outfit even existed, until I recently purchased am MCI bis bank from an eBay dealer locatred in Maine (quite appropriate!) Wink

Certainly, I cannot recall ever seeing any of these buses near the PABT or the Lincoln Tunnel..........

I recall seeing them in New York on several occasions in the late sixties-early seventies. Like most charter outfits in the East, they brought local High School Senior trips to see NY, Washington, Boston, etc for their Spring Senior trips, or senior's for Christmas Holiday trips....

Again, appreciate the additional info....thank you! Wink

Wondering now if any of the carolers that sang in the main concourse of the old "Port-of-Authority", 60-odd years ago, came in via chartered buses............

"KING BROS. LINES, INC"............

In going through some of my old bus tts earlier, I came across one very obscure one, from January, 1943.

The company's main office was then located in downtown Cleveland.

Some of the cities and towns served:

CINCINNATI

ROSELAWN

READING

SHARONVILLE

NEVILLE

BUENA VISTA

MARION

MOSCOW

DAYTON

FRANKLIN

XENIA

BOUDES FERRY

ABERDEEN

PORTSMOUTH

MANCHESTER

A number of other stations are also listed in this tt.

There is also a large-format wartime advisory, alerting passengers that regular, designated bus stops are to be used to conserve gas and tires (ODT)

Also, it is noted, that, due to wartime speed restrictions, buses will not exceed 35 miles an hour.

A separate typed sheet also came with this rr (which I purchased a number of years back) features scheduling for "DIXIE GREYHOUND" connections........

Further............

Just consulted a 1948 tt I have for "DIXIE GREYHOUND"; I could find no mention of "KINGS BROS. LINES" in the footnotes.

However, several other GREYHOUND divisions were listed.....

EASTERN GREYHOUND LINES

CENTRAL GREYHOUND LINES

SOUTHEASTERN GREYHOUND LINES

SOUTHWESTERN GREYHOUND LINES

TECHE GREYHOUND LINES

Interesting, also, that there was also a "KING BROTHERS" bus company in Australia, up until 2023, when the company went under...........

Not sure if everyone's aware, but Greyhound Lines seems to be making an effort to restore some of their formerly abandoned routes in the midwest and northwest. Let's hope that their new owner, Flixbus, continues this positive trend.

Thanks for this interesting bit of news;let;s keepour collective fingers crossed that at least SOME of these abandoned routes will once again see those "Big Hounds" making their appointed rounds! Wink

I am sure a lot of folks who currently have no viable public transportation who would certainly welcome a return of GREYHOUND service...... Very Happy
