The other unique PCC in the Brooklyn fleet was #1000, the only PCC in Brooklyn built by CLARK.

Note its boxy, angular lines, which totally set it apart from the St. Louis-built cars (also note the standee windows)

* (#1000 is today preserved)......

Besides the unique B&QT PCC #1000, the only other equipment built for New York by CLARK was the small fleet of articulated BMT "Bluebirds"; these sleek and attractive lightweight trains were retired in 1954, being deemed "non-standard" by the NYCTA..............

Here are two more photos of the only CLARK-built PCC in Brooklyn, #1000.

Again, the interesting, angular body design made it an easy car to identify.......

As previously noted, B&QT PCC #1000's more angular body lines (and standee windows) made for a marked contrast to the 99 other ST. LOUIS-built PCCs in the fleet.........

This is a rare photo; it shows CLARK PCC #1000 being delivered to Brooklyn, via flatcar.

This sleek car was quite modern for its day, and presented a totally different appearance from the ST. LOUIS-built cars...........

Cyberider:

The CLARK PCC (#1000) also stood out from the other B&QT PCCs in the fleet by its standee windows; at that time, standee windows were not found on "standard" PCCs, and would not be until after the War.

However, in 1940, TWIN COACH introduced standee windows on their Model "27/30-GS" transit buses ("slant-back" models)......

Here is an interesting photo showing #1000 on the elevated trackage at the massive Sands Street complex, at the Brooklyn end of the Brooklyn Bridge; several BMT "El" lines and a number of B&QT streetcar lines all served this huge facility, which was torn down in 1944......

This outstanding 1943 photo shows just how HUGE the (cast iron) Sands Street station was, totally dwarfing the streetcars.

The "El" trains stopped running over the Bridge in 1944, but the streetcars (now using the former "El tracks) continued running over the span until 1950........

It seems odd that the Sands Street Station was torn down during WWII when one would think traffic was heavy. Or were there other reasons?

Cyberider:

The "El" trains (BMT) stopped running over the Brooklyn Bridge in 1944 ;the massive station buildings at Park Row (Manhattan) and Sands Street were demolished, along with the complex elevated infrastrcture.

The BMT "El" trains were cut back to the "BRIDGE-JAY"station on the Brooklyn side, while the streetcars (now shifted over to the former "El" tracks) continued to serve Park Row's multiple loops until 1950.......

Cyberider:

The sheer complexity of these long-gone transit hubs is indeed mind-boggling; sadly, not a trace remains of any of these complex structures today.........

Still seems odd they didn't wait until the war was over and traffic declined to pre-war levels.

Cyberider:

I have long wondered the same thing; I do know that all the steel went to the War effort; at that time, the Brooklyn "E:"line swere thought to becoming mote redundant, and the City was anxious to tear them down (with multiple subway lines to Brooklyn in use, it was thought that that commuters could easily ride the subways and streetcars to and from brooklyn, and allow for the beginning of the scrapping of the "Els")

The Fulton line had already been closed for several years, by 1944...........
