I wonder why Brookville puts those goofy looking windshields in the cars they rebuild?

Cyberider:

In all honesty, I do not know (perhaps something to do with operator safety?), actually, I never paid much attention to these windshields;anyway, STILL better-looking that what the front end of any LRV would look like! Wink

The prominent roof humps used on the "PCC IIs" remind me of the roof humps found on some Pittsburgh PCCS (I refer to these as "trolley toupees")....... Wink

The shape and placement of windshields always stood out in my mind and I became attached to how they looked on a particular vehicle. Maybe that's why the Brookville modified windshields look so out of place to me.

Cyberider:

You are now making me recall the flat winsdshields on the original (1940) YELLOW Old Looks; not long after these buses were introduced, the newest models fearured the inward-slanting windshields, which greatly reduced glare in the driver's eyes........

NYO,

That's an interesting topic. I wonder why the "Silversides" parlor coaches continued for many years with vertical windshields? They eventually came out with a different model, which number I can't recall, that had slanted windshields and then went to the slightly canted ones on the 4103's and what followed.

Cyberider:

Look at the curving,"wrap-around" windshields used on the ACF-BRILL "IC-41s"; also, the HUGE "owl eyed" windshields of the AEROCOACH.

Too, note how the windshields of the FLXIBLE New Look was more an enlarged version of the postwar TWIN COACH transits, than a "knock-off"of the MASSIVE windshields used on the Fishbowls......

Compare the windshields of these three buses (postwar Twin Coach, Fishbowl, and Flex New Look............

Compare the windshields used on pre-and postwar PCCs; the inward-slanting windshields (note the City Subway car's windshields) echoed those used on the GM Old Looks.........

And don't forget the PCC's that were made to look like an Old Look bus. Was that Kansas City, St. Louis, or what?

Cyberider:

In the B&QT (Brooklyn) PCC fleer, car #1010 was unique in that it was the only PCC in the fleet to have an air vent over the windshields, which made one think of an Old Look bus.........
