Here are a few interesting vintage views, taken at the 36th Street yards (earliest 1932)........

The last pic looks like it was taken in the late 1940's, during the time some "Arnines" were loaned to the "Bee-Em-Tee" with those evergreens showing numbers for routes and Brooklyn orientation in route description (such as here, "2 - 4th AVENUE").

W.B.:

I was thinking the same as you, regarding that "Arnine" sporting "Bee-Em-Tee" signs up front.

I also found especially interesting the 1930-era photos at the 36th Street yards, where the "toid" rail of that era was shown to a good advantage! Wink

In William D. Middleton's traction classic, "THE TIME OF THE TROLLEY", (in the "Riding The Rapid" chapter) there is a really interesting photo of a train of "Arnines" on an inbound Astoria run, negotiating the still-complex network of trackage at QP.

Here again, as when the first "Arnines" were tested in 1932, "City" cars were again operating on "Bee-Em-Tee" rails (and that's also where they ended their lengthy run, in 1977!) Wink

Here we have two sets of "Arnines" signed for the "Bee-Em-Tee's" #2, while laying over at the 36th Street yards...........
