Anything interesting going on lately, regarding demolition/construction work, etc, for the new "Port-of-Authority"?

Thanks........

Haven't seen anything resembling beehives of activity in the area so far, if that's what you mean . . . only cordoned-off areas . . .

W,B:

Any sort of demolition/construction "woik" going on at present, or still really not much of any "intense" activity?

Not that I could tell. Just as I said a few months ago. Unless there are elves "woiking" in the overnight hours without anyone's knowledge.

Thanks for the update.

Sure seems as though the "Pee-Ay-Bee-Tee" is indeed taking its own sweet time into really getting the REAL heavy-duty "woik" "into gear"........... Razz

Although . . . I saw a sign near the Eighth Avenue entrance/exit advising that the parking ramp will be closed for good effective Dec. 21, in anticipation of the building of the new terminal (whenever that is).

What I am waiting for, is to see when the actual demolition work on the present terminal gets underway, and what the new loading/unloading areas and bus staging areas will look like.

This will be MOST interesting, I am sure............

The demolition of the ramp will also mean that the parking garage atop the "toiminal" will also be closed after the 21st.

W.B.:

Thanks: I had assumed as much.

As I said, it is going to be pretty interesting when the demolition if the terminal itself begins, and to see what the new bus arrival/departure areas will be configured (also the staging areas).........

The "Port-of-Authority" at rush hour, 1981 (indeed, another time, another "woild").......

Look VERY closely in both photos (lower left, under the ramps); you can just glimpse a Fishbowl with its engine hatch raised! Shocked

Man, the VARIETY and DIVERSITY we so took for granted, bus-wise, back in the day............ Rolling Eyes

Futrher.........

The two 1981 PABT photos in my previous post indeed underscrore the fact that the early/mid 1980s was the last time that the iconic Fishbowl would indeed dominate the "Port-of-Authority" ramps....or, for that matter, anywhere else.

Sadly, a long and colorful era was ending....... Sad

Talk about a CATHEDRAL of commerce (replete with lavish and magnificent stained glass!)

Many rare and historic photos here; quite a few historic views depict the buses throughout the years.....talk about VARIETY!! Shocked

Just imagine had this truly historic masterpiece been built in "Noo Yawk"! Shocked

Enjoy! Wink

I see they built an annex, but unlike in "Noo Yawk," the original exteriors remained. Evidently whoever ran the "Pea-Yay" in the late 1970's was not of the same mind as those that ran the "Tee-See-Tee."

I noticed, however, a slight resemblance to a building on the SE corner of 11th Avenue and 42nd Street in "Noo Yawk," where now a FedEx is located.
