Fellows:

It (sadly) seems to me that their is less and less activity Bus Talk as the weeks pass by.

It seems that virtually everyone here has simply either bailed out or evaporated into thin air.

BusChat (part of the SubChat forum) without a doubt, sees much more activity than here at Bus Talk.

Granted, the board lost a true dynamic force when our illustrious friend and encyclopedic bus expert Mr. Linksy (RIP, my friend) passed on several years back, but, even given that, the last few months or so on the board has really revealed a tremendous slowdown in activity.

Personally, I would HATE to see this great board be taken down; I have learned so much of tremendous value from the experts from New York, whose knowledge far, far surpasses my own.

Just the historic bus photos shared here alone make this board a VALUABLE asset.

I have come to greatly regard the men here on the board, and have not only greatly enjoyed communicating with them on any of a number of bus topics, but also, have gotten to know several fine individuals here as well.

Again, it would truly be sad to see this great board vanish forever into cyber space; in closing, I sure hope we can give the board a true "shot in the arm" and to bring back the activity (and fun!) that we have enjoyed here for many years.

Thanks for reading this.......

Part of this I believe is a general decline in interest in the industry, not helped by the decline of some of the pioneer companies...
I am currently on a world cruise, so only check in occasionally, until I return in mid July....

traildriver:

Sure hope you have some cool pictures to share with us upon your return! Wink

You are correct about the decline (and elimination) of a number of long-established companies; the bus industry (like the rail industry) has become so "homogenized" over the past few decades that it is getting harder and harder to try to find hints of the tremendous variety we all took for granted, back the day. Sad

Let's hope at least interest in the Forum will "perk up" soon........ Very Happy

"NYO"

PS: Enjoy your cruise! Very Happy

What happened with New York Omnibus 2629? Is his internet down?
Best wishes to all the other majors on this website.

That's a good question....
I sent him a message a couple of days ago, but have not received a response. I hope all is well, as he kept this board going, and is really missed...

Fellows:

Thought it timely to "jump start" this old topic (from back in 2019!)..........

"Where IS everybody"?

I have not seen ANYONE post ANYWHERE on this board for the past several days; even though I have posted updates (and a number of new links) in several topics, there have been NO responses at all in ANY topic, since at least the middle of last week, and even then, not much feedback.

It indeed seems that everyone else simply evaporated into thin air.....why, I have no idea.

As BusTalk is (thankfully) free from flame wars, hate-mongering, and other offensive, immature behavior, it is indeed a rare respite, far and away from other forums where things can get a bit too out of hand, IMHO.

WHERE HAS everybody gone?

I have no idea, no answer.

I'm TRYING to "keep things afloat" as best I can, but, with no feedback at all during the past several days, the great pleasure I derive in sharing transit information and related historical trivia with others is basically nil.

Oh, well, hope things will "revive", one of these days soon.....so much to learn from the knowledgeable, always informative gentlemen here.....this board is TOO VALUABLE to see fall by the wayside..............

I do check this forum periodically, but I only respond to posts that present things of personal interest.
Unfortunately, most of what I see here is things we have seen and discussed multiple times in the past, and I simply am tired of rehashing the same old stuff.

I too wish this forum was more active, but I have had to look elsewhere for that. Sad

Fellows:

Just to give you both a quick "heads-up", I will no longer be adding to existing topics of mine, nor updating any of my current discussions.

You may not agree with me, but, I have found that, in many subjects we have already discussed in the past, there is often SOMETHING that, heretofore, I was not aware of, and, thus, wanted to share it here.

I will TRY to see what I can come up, regarding new topics that MIGHT be of interest to you, but cannot do more than that.

Again, with few exceptions, I will not be updating/adding to any of my current, established topics.

Too, I do not wish to continue spending hours trying to find links to photos, articles, etc, and not to have even a brief "heads up" in regards to what I had posted....it's simply a waste of my time, as well as yours.

Anyway, that's all I have to say; however, I hope you WILL "get into" one of my NEW topics at some point in the future, that is, IF I can come up with something "fresh", and will not be regarded as "rehashing", and, I certainly thank you for all of your interest in the past; it has, indeed, been much appreciated............
