It is interesting to recall how early Staten Island had its last streetcars replaced by buses; the last cars ran circa-1936.
In Manhattan, TARS (conduit) cars ran for another decade in Manhattan, and it was not until 1948 when the TARS routes in the Bronx (overhead wire) were replaced with SURFACE buses.
And, by the time the last Brooklyn streetcars ran (1956) the Staten Island cars were already gone 20-odd years (and the last cars of all, those of the QB Ry., made their final runs in 1957).............
