Were it some of those that fell into the water when the Edgewater pier collapsed? I know a few of the "Dee-Cees" got lost because of that, and some of the "Tee-Yay's" "Dangerfields" (of the 1969-70 variety) had to be sacrificed once the buses returned to the Nation's capital.

As well . . . on that South Ferry photo with '68 Fishbowl #8850 running on M15 - that was the original 'M' emblem at front, before the curved 'NEW YORK CITY' began to be incorporated into that layout (and its size shrunk a bit).

W.B.:

I seem to recall an old newspaper photo showing some Fishbowls that ended up in "Davy Jones' Locker" when the Edgewater pier collapsed.

As I had mentioned earlier, at least one "Dee-Cee" FLXIBLE ("Dangerfield") remained "up north", after the convoy returned to the Capital.

This was the one I recall riding each morning between 1995 and 1997 on the old NHBL's #1 to Journal Square; it was using an ancient Johnson farebox that obviously saw service aboard a NHBL "Sherman" or "Patton", many, many years ago.

Don't ask me why, but I never took any pics of this bus; once it disappeared, it was gone forever.....................

Quick "Island of Staten" question, regarding "Em-Tee-Yay" garages:

Are Edgewater and Castleton still in use?

If so so, do any orginal structures (such as the garage at Casteleton) survive today?

As always, appreciate info.........

This St. George photo dates to 1973.

Note that the bus is heading for Port Richmond Square.

I've read that, even after the ferry to Bergen Point (Bayonne) shut down about 1962, this location remained an important transfer point for the riders of several bus lines.

The SIRT's ME-1's also called here until 1953..........
