Who recalls this “cheesy” 1980 TV movie, where O J Simpson portrayed a 4107 driver taking a load of tourists toward Las Vegas, and getting hijacked?

The IMDB site tells more about it, including mentioning that the real (stunt driver) was clearly seen as being white…

Here's a "Buffalo" from "The Truman Show".

Is it me, or does the destination sign look "fake"? Rolling Eyes

Note "BUS" on the building glimpsed in the background.....

Great find!

Some trivia from IMDB… this was the only film that O J appeared in with his (soon to be murdered) wife, Nicole…

You are welcome, as always! Wink

Any clues as to who supplied the "Buffalo" driven by OJ in the film? ("generic" studio bus, perhaps? Second-hand vehicle?)

Ironically (or, perhaps, not-so-ironically) OJ-related action figures from the 70's now command VERY high prices!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

I'll tell you one thing....until you brought this now-obscure film to my attention, I NEVER would have even GUESSED that OJ starred in a film where he played a BUS DRIVER! Shocked

And a "Buffalo", yet!! Shocked

Indeed, you DO learn something NEW each day!!

Any clues as to this bus.....was this another fictitious company being represented?

Again, the destination sign does not look "legit", at least to me; curious, also, regarding where the building sporting the large "BUS" sign in the background might have been located.....

NYO—
Sorry, I don’t recognise either of those. If you are a “pro” paid member of the IMDB site, I believe you can access more details on a film’s production and scene’s that may reveal more clues. I believe they said that “Detour to Terror“, was filmed in New Mexico (not Nevada or California)…

Yes some of those destination signs are obviously not on a curtain, but stuck in the box.
As for the owners of the equipment… some studios may have purchased them, but more likely supplied by a company or bus museum specialising in renting vintage vehicles for films, or renting from a charter company that allows the studio “magician’s” to disguise the actual owner…used to be repainting, but now decals or a “wrap job” would work.

In some instances, existing companies will allow their liveries to be shown in film, IF they think their company is portrayed positively in the script…

traildriver:

I thought as much; however, you and I both know that, in so many instances, then and now, a bus used in a film will often be representing a fictitious company.

Still, that destination sign, at least to me, looks to much like a "stick on", or, at least, some other sort of "bogus" sign.

Of course, I could be wrong, but it just seems "dubbed" to my eyes.....

Thank you; always greatly enjoy your input! Wink

I know that, at least in years gone by, many movie studios used their own "studio vehicles" for their films; of course, this included transit buses and highway coaches.

In "LOVE FIELD" (a 1992 Hallmark movie dealing with the assassination of JFK in 1963) there were a number of scenes featuring GREYHOUND buses (a SCENICRUISER figured prominently)

Here's a "SCENICRUISER" scene from "LOVE FIELD"; note, also, the historic GREYHOUND depot, then (in 1963) still so commonplace.....

A GREYHOUND 4103 was also briefly seen in the station sequences in "LOVE FIELD"......

These would have been the GREYHOUND stations in Texas that would have been in use when JFK was assassinated in Dallas (November,1963) when the movie 1992 "Love Field" was taking place.

The magnificent, Art Deco Dallas station is at the top of the page......
