In my depot we generate a fuel report every night when the last bus is fueled. Then the list is checked off for buses at the vendor, out of service, etc.
Whatever buses are ready for service the next day get fueled in the morning before going out for service.
Also all some runs on the M60 buses are fueled twice a day. These runs are very long from 4Am to 2AM. And on a few occassions these runs have ran out of fuel late at night.

It's been a long time since we had the last of them at Triboro but if memory serves me correctly, I think that the Grummans that we had back then, some 20 years ago, had fuel gauges on them. Now I'm going to have to check out the one Grumman that I usually see at the New York City Transit Bus Roadeo to check if this might be the case.

I think that your memory is very sharp indeed!
I have an Operator's Manual issued by Flx for NYCTA & MaBSTOA.
The drawing of the front instrument panel of the 1980 Grumman Flx 870 typically seen at the annual TA Roadeo (NYCT 236) shows a full set of gauges including speedometer, air pressure, water temp., oil pressure, voltmeter and a fuel gauge.

Nice follow-up Q65A and thanks for the compliment. Now if I can only convince my wife that "I do not have "selective memory loss," I'd be the perfect husband. Laughing

My memory only goes back to 1994 on the 8600 RTS's.
I was only 12 and in 7th grade when the Grummans came to New York!
