traildriver:

I had started a thread here AGES ago on this very topic! (I guess great minds DO think alike!)

The link you posted indeed looks quite interesting; I'll enjoy delving into it later this evening! Wink

I've always thought it most interesting that the word "stages", a century later, was still being used by certain intercity operators; as examples:

SOUTHEASTERN STAGES

EDWARDS LAKE-TO-SEA STAGES

SHENADOAH STAGES

SERVICE STAGES

UNION PACIFIC STAGES

MT. HOOD STAGES

ORANGE BELT STAGES

MOYERS STAGES

SALT LAKE & TOOELE STAGES

RIVER AUTO STAGES

CRESCENT STAGES

SOUTHWESTERN STAGES

RIMROCK STAGES

LEEWAY STAGES

....it would be quite interesting, certainly, to see what original stagecoach lines later evolved into motor bus companies.

Just now recalled another company that used the word "stage":

"LONE STAR STAGE LINES".........

"NYO"
