......it would also be interesting to find out when the first "Dangerfields" ran on Myrtle Avenue, and, also, when the last ones were replaced......

....also, I'm interested of what garage the Myrtle Avenue buses were then based (I know Old Looks could still be seen on Myrtle Avenue in 1971).......

B54 was based out of Fresh Pond depot which, as of 1972, had 53 of the 1969-70 111CC-D5-1 "Dangerfields" (4100-4152, probably going back to 1970), extended by 1974 to 58 (up to 4157) and by then augmented by 20 of the newer order of 53102-6-1 (7135-7154). All other buses mentioned in the 1969, 1972, 1973 and 1974 rosters were Fishbowls, apparently the Old Looks that ran on the line were considered spares as none of them were mentioned.

Other routes assigned out of Fresh Pond in that time period were: B13, B20, B24, B38, B52, B53, B55, B57 and B58.

W.B.:

As always, i greatly appreciate your historical input.

Fresh Pond was once a busy BMT/B&QT hub, with many yard tracks.

Streetcars were based there until about 1950 or so, and many different types of BMT equipment (subway and elevated) could be found there, back in the day.

I know the "EM-Tee-Yay" still stores trains there, but the equipment variety of years past is now, sadly, long-gone.

It's all NTT now.

Getting back to the buses, did any MACKS ever operate on Myrtle Avenue?

If they did, I reckon it would have been pre-1966.

WB.:

Thanks; there are really not all that many photos of Old Looks on Myrtle Avenue either, (at nycsubway.org)

Likewise, on nycsubway.org, there are not all that many MACK photos either; though there are some Brooklyn photos, most MACK photos seem to be from "AVENUE B.".......

..........interesting on how it was that a local "indy" company like "AVENUE B." had the distinction of operating the very last MACKS in the city.

IMHO, I don't think the "Em-Tee-Yay's " new two-tone blue of the 1970's would have looked at all well on the Old Looks, let alone the MACKS.......

I suppose, then, it was fortunate the last Old Looks and Macks were retired when they were, if nothing else than for the sake of the two-tone blue issue . . . riders were at least spared that on those classics. (Though towards the end of their service life, some of the 1960 FACL and ST Fishbowls, plus a few of the remaining "Tee-Yay" New Looks of the 1959-62 period, displayed the new "Em-Tee-Yay" paint scheme.)
