An interesting photo of a brand new Triboro Coach, number 801, a Flxible model F2D6V401-1, serial number 51900 of 1964, next to a Mercedes-Benz model O-317 operated by Carey Transportation in their Airline Connection Service. The airport is JFK.

Triboro photographed this Flexible, 801, in different parts of the City displaying the same destination sign: World’s Fair (red)-No Passengers (black)… I’m very lucky in having both the red and black sign curtains from Triboro with the World’s Fair reading.

Man, oh, man, if this picture isn't a true CLASSIC!!!! Very Happy

These days, when we are overrun with giant milk cartons and caterpillars, it is MOST refreshing to see nostalgic photos such as this depicting REAL buses! Very Happy

The MERCEDES coach reminds me a lot of the plastic HO scale European buses then found in many hobby shops, make by VIKING (I have several in my collection today)

Again, BEAUTIFUL old photo.....thanks for sharing with us..... Wink

Nice shot!
Lots of interesting stuff, besides the two buses...the old wooden light poles, once common on NY Parkways, the quonset huts expanding the original 'temporary passenger terminal',

Here's a great site with tons of photo's showing the development of JFK's Terminal City, as well as many other great airports around the world.

Too bad, there isn't enough interest to have something similar for bus terminals...

For the first few days after opening, BoT ran buses from Hillside Avenue and Sutphin Blvd to the airport using these brand-new Mack C-45 GTs.

Interesting!
Looks like they are loading thru both doors…

There is no similar route today, other than the Q-3 perhaps. IIRC, Carey Transportation might have run an express from the LIRR terminal direct to Idlewild/JFK, albeit at a much higher fare than the City Bus. But with more comfort as well as baggage space.

Of course nowadays we have the Airtrain instead…
