Fishbowl # 6836 is seen running with an empty front sign box, through dismal surroundings.
Note, also, the battered "private" cab and the old two-aspect traffic light, itself evocative of another era......

A few months from this, and the front sign, depending on where this was going, would have read 'Bx21 Bruckner Blvd' or 'Bx21 Astoria Blvd'. |

W.B.:
Thanks for this info (and correction)
I DID know that the "Triboro" did not go to Brooklyn; this is also what puzzled me.
The "Hoyt" is what also threw me, as the only "Hoyt" I am familiar with is "Hoyt-Schemerhorn" on the IND in downtown Brooklyn.....

Here we have a two-tone blue Fishbowl (running on the on the B64) in the shadows of a prewar IND train; 1977 was the last year, as you already know that the prewar IND cars operated in revenue service.
Note, also, the long-disused streetcar line pole....... |

Nostalgic (circa-early 1970's) shot of a prewar "CC" train at 125th St., bound for "Da Bronx".......

Stillwell Avenue again (1977); here a grungy #8854 is still proudly displaying its "upper case" nearside batwing sign.
A train of graffiti-splattered R-27/R-30's are up above......

It's not in Brooklyn - it's at 29th Street and Hoyt Avenue in Astoria. |

Yes......
W.B. Fishbowl already had corrected me; as the only "Hoyt" I was familiar with was the ""Hoyt-Schemerhorn" IND station in Brooklyn, I thought this photo was snapped in Brooklyn.
Hey, I'm from "Joisey".....

Here's former "Tee-Yay" first-generation Fishbowl #2 in a new career, displaying a most emphatic front sign, back in '74.......

Here's a still from "For Pete's Sake"; two "Em-Tee-Yay" buses (one with batwings) can be glimpsed in the background (downtown Brooklyn)......

If only at least one of those were, say, riding on 50th Street in Manhattan, stopping on Broadway . . . or situated around the United Nations . . . or traipsing along York Avenue or 65th/66th Street . . . |

W.B.:
Well, these buses WERE "Dangerfields", after all, and, and such, were entitled to NO RESPECT.
Just imagine if FACL had remained "indy" and went on to order a good number of "Dangerfields", back in the 1960's.
Certainly, then, we'd see the humble "Dangerfields" running on the more "tony" routes.......
