The Amazin' NY Mets just swept Atlanta in a hot double-header!!!! Very Happy Very Happy

(meanwhile, the "Bombers" have lost three games in a row....NOT fun for the Yankee faithful, for sure)

"Bombers" fans certainly have no reason to celebrate this evening, but a LOT of VERY HAPPY Mets fans returned home via the jam-packed IRT #7 line trains on this sultry, muggy, August Saturday night!!!Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Both teams seem to either be on hot winning streaks or "tanking" big time", alternating back and forth.

"GO METS!!" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

"Dangerfields" up to Yankee Stadium (WAMATA loans)

I know that MaBSTOA "Dangerfields" once served routes that went to Yankee Stadium.

Were any of the "bailout" WAMATA "Dangerfields" ever assigned to routes that served Yankee Stadium?

Thanks......

We'd know only if there were enough "shutterbugs" around the Stadium to snap photos and then bring 'em over here. Unfortunately, apparently they may've been scared off by the overall decay faced by the rest of "da Bronx" in that period. There are, however, on eBay, from time to time, pics of WMATA "Dangerfields" in other parts of town. Maybe the 'Em-Tee-Yay' thought putting them in the Bronx would be adding insult to injury, or rubbing salt on an old wound? But here's a clue: Bx49 and Bx34. Those went to "The Stadium" for sure.

W.B.:

Thanks for your input, as always.

Kind of sobering, that, back in the 70's, Brooklyn was certainly no "family-friendly Disneyland" by any means, and yet, looked at how many bus photos from that time were taking in that borough.

Even more of a head-scratcher: NO SHORTAGE whatsoever of SUBWAY photos from "Da Bronx" (1970'searly 80's)

And, of course, the subways were then crime-ridden (sounds familiar?) with vandals and graffiti "artists" running rampant throughout the system.

And yet, quite a HEFTY collection of subway/el photos from "Da Bronx".........hmmmmmm....... Question

Back in 1974, we see MaBSTOA Fishbowl #4892 threading its way through the old columns that, until recently, had supported the 3rd Avenue El.

IMHO, the removal of the El certainly DID NOT improve the quality of life in "Da Bronx".......

*Photo date is incorrect; photo (going by one of the autos and a truck in the distance, would seem to date to the later 30's/ 1940's)

THE AMAZIN' NEW YORK METS SWEPT ATLANTA AGAIN!!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Meanwhile, "The Bombers" BOMBED again, losing their 5th STRAIGHT game in a row!! Confused

Really amazing how when one "Noo Yawk" team is on a HOT, multiple-game winning spree, the other is singing further into the quagmire....without a doubt, Yankee fans are scratching their collective heads and are wondering when the bloodletting is finally going to end.

That being said, "GO METS!" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

A rare bird indeed is batwinged "Dangerfield" #7753, up in "Da Bronx", back in 1982, in the company of a "Borough Bomber".......

Well, last steamy, humid night (after a rain delay at CitiField) the Amazins did it once again, winning 14 of their last 16 games......... Wink

[GO METS!!"] Very Happy

Meanwhile, on this very early Wednesday morn, the "Bombers" bombed yet again, after 13 innings, 1-0.

Given that the Yankees have only won one game within the past week or so, it can be safely said that "Bombers" fans are not in the happiest of moods, right about now..... Sad

Ahhhh, the hallowed Shea, sacred stomping grounds of the Amazin' Mets.......GREAT photo, with much nostalgia! Wink

The present Yankee Stadium carries the same name as the original "House That Ruth Built", thereby carrying on a great tradition for "Bombers" fans.

Why Shea, only dating to the mid-1960's, had no be not only torn down, but, to add insult to injury, bears the modern, generic "CitiField: moniker, instead of "SHE STADIUM".

To this day, the bland-sounding "CitiField" does not, and never will, "click" with Your's Truly.

I cannot think "Mets" without then recalling the late, great Shea.

Well, at the very least, though Shea has now vanished into history, the Amazins are still "Amazin" the faithful today in 2022..... Very Happy
