The BEDFORD "VAL" was once a common sight in Great Britain (This was the type of coach The Beatles used on their "Magical Mystery Tour", back in the Swingin' Sixties)......

In a sense, the Fishbowl could also be described as a "highway coach".
After all, look at the "long haul" runs which any of a number of now-defunct carriers used suburban Fishbowls on high-speed expressway/turnpike/parkway runs.
On the "flip" side, the now-classic 4104/4106 coaches, both designed as through-service highway coaches, also operated on the longer commuter runs, for many carriers (likewise, the "Buffalo")......

Here's one of GREYHOUND's Fishbowls at San Francisco back in the 70's, wearing its new updated paint (note a glimpse of an Old Look in the left background)........

Talk about "artistic license".......

This neat little tin friction GREYHOUND "Fishbowl" (I have several in my collection!) dates to the 1960's.
As you can see, though the front end replicates a Fishbowl fairly accurately, the rest of the bus is a "fantasy" model (used on any of a number of tin Japanese buses in different sizes; a door was usually replicated where the blank spot is here)
The two smaller sizes had variations; one had a "flat" front, while the other has a front that was curved.
The large version of this bus (which came in a box instead of a plastic bag with a cardboard tag) is a foot long (I have several; the TRAILWAYS version had an "EXPRESS" sign where the blank spot was on the sides; I have a few of these, also!

Here's a nostalgic vintage 1960's-era GREYHOUND ad, recalling the long-ago days when so many young lads (Your's Truly included!) dreamed of one day driving a bus.....

I watched a report on EYEWITNESS NEWS (ABC-7) yesterday on the new PABT and adjoining facilities (and towers); this massive, monolithic project will not begin until at least 2024, and take years to complete.
Certainly, today's commuters will be retired by the time the new facility opens a decade from now.
The present terminal is deemed "antiquated"; strange hearing this description, as the interior of the once-elegant 1950 terminal now has all the warmth, imagination, and charm of a modern shopping mall.
"Upkeep" is sadly lacking; there are leaks, missing ceiling tiles, and cracks galore throughout the terminal.
One new building is to be used for long-distance bus staging/layovers.
When and if this project is ever completed, Your's Truly will b e in his mid-70's, at least......
