Here's an elderly ("shorty") prewar BoT TWIN (even then, this bus looked quite ancient and antiquated, especially when compared to the newest Old Looks and MACKS)...............

Both those buses were actually NYCO, and rebuilt no doubt would have after 1956 borne 'FIFTH AVENUE COACH LINES INC.' on their sides. But they're NYCO too. Though FACCo did have some of their "shorties" on their 16 and 20 crosstown routes.

Length and height differences are quite apparent here, in this circa-1950 photo of a B&QT PCC and an unidentified FORD bus.........

Dekalb & Willoughby, 1933 (gridlock, indeed, is obviously NOTHING new!)
Note the small TWIN COACH on the right, almost toy-like in appearance, when compared to the streetcar in the background.....

Metropilitan Suburban Bus Authority cut down number ex-474, exx-Schenck 428, a GM TDH-5302 and was renumbered 1000.
By the destination sign and fare box this bus was used in revenue service.

Under the MTA, MaBSTOA cut down down number 8602, a 1967 TDH-5303 with bat-wings to a "shorty" as an information office at different venues.

The engine cover was replaced with the hatch from a fourth generation fishbowl.
Sadly, the batwings were removed. But the rooftop radio blister was kept.

EXCELLENT photos, as usual.......thanks for taking the time to post here!
So, there WAS a "shorty" Fishbowl wearing MTA insignia; even though this bus (#8602) was not in revenue service, it still is a surprise to me that the "Em-Tee-Yay" had anything like it.
Too bad the batwings were not retained!

"SHORT" or "LONG", it is ALWAYS a PLEASURE to see photos of REAL buses, instead of giant insects and huge milk cartons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Shorties" from the Los Angeles area...
SCRTD Flxible (Junior Dangerfield) were model 411GD-C-2 with Cummins diesel engines and they were built in the Evergreen, Alabama plant (formerly the Southern Coach Manufacturing plant) side by side with the Flxettes. They arrived in 1965.
The Eastern Cities fleet was taken over by SCRTD.
They were TDH-3301 of 1969-1970 vintage
