This was what I meant about the shifting to the left of such signs. Out there is a B&W photo from 1967 of MaBSTOA bus #5508, with 'VIA 7 AVE' after the '2A TO 8 ST' on the front roll sign, to the next lane of ex-FACCo "Queen Mary" #2124 (likewise courtesy nycsubway.org):

W.B.:
As always, greatly appreciate your information regarding rollsigns and their variations over the years; your input always adds a lot more "depth" to a given photo!
I noticed the driver, with no cap, and no tie; I've always wondered why most bus drivers (in both "Noo Yawk" and "Joisey") began to "ditch" the full uniform look in the later 60's and 1970's.
Granted, it was a bit more comfortable when driving a non a/c bus during the hot, sticky summers, but, IMHO, I always felt that the "full uniform" always added its own bit of "professional class".
From many of the old photos we've seen and discussed here, you could tell what drivers were "old timers" and had no intention of "going casual", so to speak.
These were the old "die hards" that still remain clearly etched in my memory......

"Purist" that I am, I was never fond of lower-case roller curtains on older model buses......the same held true for older subway cars.....

There is now on eBay about two-thirds of a non-batwing side roll sign for MaBSTOA Manhattan routes that was struck in 1967:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/284700750717
It only goes as far low as the late 12 Spring-Delancey line all the way up to the TB routes, and even includes the then-(Bx)30 149th Street Crosstown (which, I.I.N.M., was assigned to 146th Street by that point). Missing are the following exposures:
1 5th & MADISON VIA 135 ST
2 5th & MADISON VIA LENOX
2A 5th & MADISON VIA SEVENTH AVE
3 FIFTH AVE & CONVENT AVE
3 FIFTH AVE & ST NICHOLAS
4 FIFTH AVE FT WASH'N'TON
5 FIFTH AVE RIVERSIDE
6 BWAY-7th AVE AMERICAS
6 72 STREET CROSSTOWN
7 BROADWAY COL-LENOX
10 8th AVE CENTRAL PK W
10 BROADWAY
11 COLUMBUS 9th & AMST
It's about 20.25" wide.

I might add that the seller inadvertently left out 1 through 11; after I contacted him, the entire set is now there.
