Though, indeed, a world away, these vintage cars recall the IND's 1948/1949 R-10s, with lower-profile clerestories......

The following gleaned via a 1967 publication on world public transport vehicles (published in Great Britain).....
".......Russia is currently testing various types of articulated trolleybuses. Reports state that the TS-1 trolleybus will carry 200 passengers during peak hours, although it only had 45 seats......"
"........despite the fact that several Russian cities now operated underground railways, Russian cities are heavily dependent on street railways......."
"......in 1963, there 107 street railway networks in the Soviet Union, and 58 cities operated trolleybuses....."

Thanks for posting this thread.
Ukraine is not part of Russia, but I realize that topics on this board tend to drift. On Sub Chat, I received no reply to an inquiry about the controller on Tatra T4s, whether it is a foot pedal as on US PCC's or operated by hand.
---
I have been watching a YouTube https://youtu.be/d1P7VS61aFA about trams in Kyiv. Route 12 has the feel of Cabin John. I rode Tatras only in Prague, and I cannot remember the controller. The Kyiv cars are spartan with too few seats compared to Brooklyn PCCs. |

Joe:
Glad you find this topic of interest!
I had noticed your inquiry on SubChat, and was a littl surprised that no on had responded.
Bieng that Russia has attacked Ukraine (and the Ukraine also has subways), I thought it appropriate to put up a link or two here.
Regarding "Euro" PCC's, the oncs that ran for decades in The Hague were virtually indentical to the PCC's here, even to the standee windows.
Vienna's old articulateds clearly were PCC-inspired.
Recall, too, the Russian buses and trolleybuses of long ago, that were clearly patterned after YELLOW's Old Looks................

BTW: Thanks for the link! |
