W.B.:
I was also thinking along your lines, but was not 100% sure.
In a book I have:
"NEW YORK CITY FIRE TRUCKS" (Sorenson/Wood) the only photo of an FDNY bus in this book was the customized Flex that I had mentioned earlier here.
Quite a number of years ago, CORGI issued a red TEXACO "crew bus" ("TEXAS PIPE LINE"); I have one of these in my collection.
Oddly enough, they also offered a SCENICRUISER in this livery ("TEXACO").....

Earlier in this topic, I posted the link to a photo of a Flxible ("Airporter"-type) used by the FDNY.....

They claimed it was a TDH-4507, but unless it was later in that model's run it looked more to me like a TDH-4509 . . . |
It looks too long to be either…more like a -5101?

traildriver:
I only wish that bus had been depicted in the FDNY book I had mentioned earlier.
This was the first time I had ever seen an Old Look being used by the FDNY (I now wonder if, perhaps, there were also a few others?)

The FDNY old look is a GM TDH-5101 ex-NYCTA bus.
What’s more interesting is that the FDNY bus was the museum bus fleet number 4789 which was renumbered to 2969, “The Jackie Gleason Honeymooners” bus!

Great historical info!
Thanks for sharing!

BTW:
How any other buses did the FDNY use, back in the day?

Many years ago, "BUS WORLD" did an excellent feature story on the old CROWN coaches then used by the LAPD.
I got a chuckle reading of how the drivers enjoyed playing with the old "growler" sirens.....

......I've looked in vain on the 'net for some documentation on just how any buses were used by the FDNY over the years (also, NYPD), but, so far, I've turned up nothing.......

........AFAIK, the Transit Museum never had (to my knowledge) any exhibit on NYPD/Transit Police/FDNY buses.
Such an exhibit, I feel, would have been both interesting and educational.....

New York City Transit Police bus #3000 a GM T8H-5307A, as originally delivered in (1973) the two-tone blue scheme.
Notice that this is a standard transit bus seating layout with a single door. Also note the blue with white letter destination curtain and lack of a roof-top radio blister.
(Sorry the photo is not a better quality, this is a copy of a copy)

MaBSTOA 15:
GREAT photo....thanks for sharing here!
Odd seeing an MTA Fishbowl with only one door! (as was typical with suburban Fishbowl models)
Any idea where this bus was based when not "on duty"?
