You (like Your's Truly) surely had NO problem at all identifying THAT bus!! Wink

One cannot help but wonder how long these buses operated for other owners, after being sold by GREYHOUND; I have read that a number went to charter operations, while some were purchased by church groups.

I have seen old home movie footage of "Supercoaches" operating in California-based charter operations, well into the 1960's.......

From: ""GOING THE GREYHOUND WAY" (Gabrick)........

".......Greyhound's experimental "X1", "X2", and "X3" models paved the way for the introduction of the Yellow Coach Model 719, the 'Super-Coach'......"

"......the 'Super-Coach' was hailed as 'a streamlined symphony in blue and white.......Greyhound, world-leader in long-distance bus transportation, wanted an ultra-modern passenger vehicle....it was a job for master builders......"

"......acting wisely, Greyhound's new Yellow Coach Model 743 Super-Coach, introduced in 1937, continued the styling of the first (Model 719) Super-Coach, with only minor changes......."

As did the Pickwick Duplex and Nite Coaches...they borrowed Dwight Austin's angle drive system, to make the transverse rear engine design that lasted for decades on subsequent GM model's possible.

traildriver:

I guess the old saying IS true, after all.....IMITATION is indeed the SINCEREST form of flattery! Wink

Recall, also, how Russia "borrowed" YELLOW's Old Look design, for both bus and trolley coach purposes! Shocked

Well in this case it wasn't imitation...Dwight Austin came over to Yellow-GM along with his patent. It became so ingrained in US transit bus design, that the government tried to break up GM's near monopoly, by forcing it to sell the components to other company's. Flxible was one that bought it...

Thanks for this info......was not familiar with this..... Wink

I've seen photos of Old Look-style trolley coaches "over there" (square windows) that just had me imagining them all decked out in resplendent PSNJ postwar gray...... Very Happy
