LOVE these photos of BUSES that LOOKED like BUSES!!!!!!!!!!
On a related note, the CTA long used retired buses (and trolley buses) as "work buses"; there were a number of "snow fighters" on the roster, with a number being equipped with plows as well.
GREAT photos, as always.....

The NYCTA was pretty resourceful in re-purposing some of their Old Look buses. Some even wound up on the subway. albeit in highly modified form.
Check out this image of NYCTA OF 116, a home made inspection car, consisting of a retired NYCTA Old Look body attached to an IRT-sized flat car:

That is some weird contraption...
I have to wonder why they didn't convert a regular car into an 'inspection car'...
