The Third Avenue Transit Corporation, parent company of Surface Transportation Corporation of New York and Westchester Street Transportation Company, Inc., is acquired by Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, Inc. Surface's six routes in Manhattan, and 42 in The Bronx, are hereafter administered under a newly-created operating subsidiary owned entirely by FACL, Surface Transit, Inc. (However, when FACL puts out its bus route map several months later, Surface's routes will not be included.) Westchester Street Transportation will remain under FACL aegis through 1969, when all its routes are sold to Liberty Lines, Inc. |
