I didn't know Winston had coach buses, though that's partly because thses days they don't seem to to operate Coach buses.
I'm planing on adding Classic Coach, it's just nobody has mentioned what kind of vintage buses they had. |

S-60: Let me try to answer your concerns from no other source than my memory
1 - Winston - You are correct that they seem to have left the charter bus business. Haven't seen a Winston Bus .in quite a while. Have not seen their airport vans very often either. Wonder if they're still in business or under a different name.
2 - Classic - Similar comments to those of Winston. They primarily ran MCI and then switch to Van Hools. Most of their buses had a blue livery. One day I saw an MCI in all white with the "Classic Coach" letering in blue. Thought the livery looked sharp. Also don't see thee vans very often. I think that the limo companies with their one passenger pick-up to the airport have put them out of business.
3 - Long Island Airport Limo Service (LIALS). The last I had heard, the company was sold to a Russian outfit. They're now in Brooklyn but still maintain the 631 number they had while in Hauppauge. Saw one of their buses recently but can't remember the make. They did run Eagles in the early 90's because my son rode in one on a school trip to Albany.
4 - Coach America. Not to be confused with Coach USA. This outfit didn't last long on L. Their equipment was junk, buses dirty and they soon disappeared. |

1) According to New York State the only Winston name in transportation located in Suffolk is Winston Bus Service LLC, which was started in 2001 and formally named Exmas Enterprises, and Winston American Transportation Inc #2 which are both located at the same locations as some other companies named Winston. Most of the Companies that used the name Winston like Winston Airport Shuttle or Winston Tours became inactive during the 90's. All except for Winston Tours, Winston American Courier Inc, Winston American Van Lines Inc, and Winston Coach Corp #1 had the same Medford address for their DOS Process, though all the companies had Suffolk listed as their county. All but Winston Tours had a person with the same last name.
Winston Tours Limited - 5/1977-9/1991 (5/1977-7/1979 called J.T.F Transportation Service Inc, 7/1979-5/1985 called Faygle Coach Corp)
Winston Airport Shuttle - 3/1990-9/1995
Winston American Transportation Inc - 2/1978-12/1999 (Formerly called Winston Airport Transportation Service 2/1978-5/1985)
Winston American Coach Inc #2 - 2/1994-6/2001
Winston American Coach Inc - 12/1986-6/1993
Winston American Courier Inc - 8/1979-9/1991 (Formerly Winston Car Rental Inc 8/1979-10/1985)
Winston American Tours Inc - 9/1994-12/1999
Winston American Transportation Inc #2 - 8/2001-Present
Winston American Van Lines Inc - 9/1988-9/1994
Winston Coach Corp #1 - 1/1978-12/1992
Winston Coach Corp#2 - 10/2007-7/2011
Winston Coach Inc - 3/1995-12/1999
Winston Limousine Service Inc - 7/1973-10/1991
Winston Taxi Enterprises Inc - 11/2006-1/2012
Winston Taxi Inc - 2/1994-9/1998
2) I think most, if not all Classic's buses have been transfered to their sister company Hampton Luxury Liner or possibly wrapped for 7Bus, or at least that's what it seems like.
3) From what I can tell they still operate their buses and vans out of Hauppauge. I assume, based on the two buses I know about, that their buses are numbered in a 21xx range.
4) I'm not sure how far back the Coach America was that you are talking about, but I found records of a Coach America Inc from 1/1989-12/29/1999 (Oddly that's the same inactive date given for a few of the Winston companies) that listed Nassau as it's home county, and Coach of America Tours Inc from 4/1996-12/2000 that listed Queens as their home county. |

I scaned slowly and some how missed it
An odd fact about Winston Coach Corp or as I written it Winston Coach Corp #1 is that their inactive date was the same as Coram Bus Service/Coram Line Service. |

I just used Bing and got the following link:
http://www.winstontrans.com/motorcoach
If you look under one of the tabs there is a category of Motorcoach. The site also reveals that the vans are part of "Go Winston" which is some sort of a nationwide franchise for airport van operations.
The link reveals that they are operating out of Medford and not on Sycamore Avenue in Bohemia. |

Their website (http://winstontransny.com) also said that they started in 1973,which is when they used the name Winston Limousine Service Inc. So I'm guessing there was some type of legal or finical reasons why they used all those other names over the years.

The address in Bohemia was for the car rental, or at least the address for the DOS for the car rental was in Bohemia. |

S-60: The human brain works in mysterious . Last night I saw a Northfork Express bus and somehow it clicked that you don't have MONTAUK BUS COMPANY on your list as inactive. They were a charter company operating from near the LI Game Farm.
I remember that they ran MCI-8's or 9's while they operated. They hired a former tax client of mine who was an unemployed PAN AM engine mechanic. |

Montauk Bus Comapny, is another comapy like Winston which has used many names over the years. Montauk Bus Company is now Montauk Bus Service. They also own another bus company. They are also related to Northfork Express as well as another former company named Hampton Express.
I know the yard you are talking about, it's in Center Moriches. It's either the yard that Montauk Bus Service uses or the yard that is now used by First Student. |
