Well I grew up on Liberty Lines Express and their MCI Classics so it's not just about the engine and its sound that takes me back into their era (80s/90s), it's also about the history I have with them and all that. I have memories of riding the Liberty Classics and I grew up with them so I want one of those instead of one of the others. Also I've actually never heard an 8V-71N before. The 6V-92TA is the most familiar sounding to me, nothing can beat it at least IMO..

I have the exact same passion for the NYBS Classics as I too rode on them when they were first delivered. I think it wasn't even a week before I took my first ride on the first one out from Drieser Loop. I practically rolled outta bed and into a Classic each morning.

Sheesh do I long to hear that haunting roar coming from her engine. Crying or Very sad

Well I hear there is a repainted ex NYBS classic still doing occasional training so you might have another chance.

Very cool. I was able to take a peak at Classics at the Eastchester garage and did see like 5 or 8 or something to that affect. So I'm assuming you are reffering to one of them.

I find it interesting though that they are using the Classic for training purposes as the drivers did require training to drive them because of their 102 inch wide body.

By the way. I was at NIMCO just today and they still had sitting there NYBS 1600-1602 and still looking very good and two MCI Classics, one excellent condition, and one that the step well is badly damaged due to moving around with a forklift.

As for the other Classics, they are completely decimated.

Yeah, I was there at NIMCO with him... 3 GM's and 2 MCI's. Both MCI's are NYBS. In the pile, I saw what appeared to be the remaining bits and pieces of several Green Classics.... Sad.

I would not worry too much about a Classic being saved.... One already is.... As a matter of fact, we went on a road trip with it last week. Here is a pic I took Smile

Nice! Its obviously not 5887 or any ex GBL, SC, JB, TCC or QS. Is it an ex NYBS or LLE? Thanks for saving another bus, it looks great.

No it's not 5887... All the remaining Green Classics were scrapped at NIMCO last month.

One more hint... It is originally from one of the Cooper companies Smile

Coopers Co.? Wow I don't remember any Coopers Classics repainted except 5882 (front only) and 5887 unless this bus use to be in a Cooper company and was later transferred. Is it an ex NYBS classic that use to be a GBL or Command Classic. Man your killing me Mark Laughing I'm thinking the bus may have been NYBS 1695-1697 or NYBS 1711-1715. Okay Im done for now Shocked
