In a photo taken on the streets of the nations capital in the very early sixties (judging by the 'Art Deco' markers on the GM New Look center left), we see fleet number 5130 - a 1947 White Motors Model 798 and one of a number purchased by the then Capital Transit Company of Washington, D.C.
# 5130 is sporting the livery of Capital's successor D.C. Transit and features a European style three section destination sign specifically designed for the company.
In spite of their awkward looks, the under floor powered 798's were good runners and very popular among operators and passengers with over 3,000 manufactured between 1940 and 1948.
Thanks to Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1689, we are treated to the following short You Tube presentation entitled 'Capital Transit Rolls Again';
